Marcy-Wish we could be there, 'cause we're so interested in Libre. Our cabin is located directly across the valley between Sheep and Little Sheep mountains. We will inform our friends from Boulder about the meeting/lecture/presentation in ATLAS 102 on the CU Boulder campus. All the best success in your work and maybe one day we can get together and share some insights. By the way, do you know if the Red Rocker dome is still in existence? We tried to find it several summers ago but locked gates were an issue. Thanks, Ron and Mary Garcia

Thank you for posting this video. I grew up in a house about 300 yards from St. Anne's church where this was filmed last year. The houses in closer proximity to the church belong to some of my cousins. The Malinche was one of my young cousins and I am certain that I am related to some of the other dancers as well. My mother passed away less than two weeks after this video was shot and I just didn't have the heart to go to the dances this year and receive condolences or answer questions from well intentioned friends and family. I don't think I realized how much I missed them and how it didn't feel like 2009 ended until I watched the video. I'm glad I had a chance to wrap up 2009 "right" even if it was only on the internet. Thanks. God bless you.

What we saw will be accompanied by another section with Xi as a gold miner! Our first attempt at filming that part did not work out (I stuck a couple shots in the WIP anyway). It will be sort of a ghostly presence of the past type thing, relating specifically to the erasure of Chinese miners from Ward's history. We'll see how it goes. Additionally, the color will be completely different, and hopefully my attempts to create something like a narrative out of audio from Westerns will be more developed. Right now, I feel that the piece has too much of a nostalgic feel, and I need to figure out how to deal with issues of the past and a sense of change and loss without fetishizing decay. Lots of work left.
